The best stories aren't planned. They happen.
December 2021 Affreschi & Affreschi is preparing to present a new collection designed by Milo Manara, debuting a few months later at the Salone del Mobile in Milan. To celebrate it with those who have loved its work for years, the company chooses an unusual path.
Some bottles are covered with the material that has been at the heart of his research for twenty years: a millimeter of flexible marble on which the artist's works come to life.
They were not intended for sale. They were a gift. A Christmas wish. A different way of telling yourself. But whoever received that gift did not ask about the work arriving at the Salon.
He didn't ask about the collection. They wanted to own the bottles.
They were created to present a work. They ended up becoming it.
For the first time, beauty was not limited to being observed: it wanted to be part of a story.
Attention had shifted from the wall to the object. From the work to the spirit it guarded. The encounter between the material of the fresco and the world of spirits had created something that still did not have a name. A few months later, that intuition found him: J.Rose.
On March 30, 2022, the first official bottle was sealed. Not just a brand was born that day. A new chapter was born in a story that began many years before. The same matter. The same knowledge. The same vision.
A new destination.
The Creative Laboratory
Each work is created for a specific place. Some on the canvas. More on paper. Still others between the pages of a book. Bringing it to a bottle means giving it a new life without betraying the first. This is why nothing is simply reproduced. A color created for paper does not behave in the same way on the material of the fresco: a porous, opaque, living surface, which with carbonation will continue to change over time. Thus each tone is recalibrated so that it remains faithful to the artist's intention even after the stone has absorbed it.
It is the task of the J.Rose creative laboratory: to study each image, understand it and finally translate it. A work cannot be copied. She is taught to live elsewhere. An image created to be looked at becomes an object to hold in the hand, to turn between the fingers, to be discovered in every light. This is where his second life begins. Some works immediately reveal their nature. Others keep it for longer, and remain in the atelier until they are ready.
