Message in a Bottle · J.Rose
The answers below describe how J.Rose Bottles bearing the green NFC sticker work. For the complete conditions, please refer to the current Terms and Conditions and Privacy Notice.
Version 2.0 — 5 October 2026
What is Message in a JR Bottle?
It is the service included with enabled J.Rose Bottles that lets you associate a single text message, a video up to one minute long, or both, with the NFC Tag. The Content becomes accessible by scanning the Tag with a compatible smartphone.
How do I create the content? Do I need an account?
You do not need to create an account. Scan a Tag that has not yet been activated, enter an email address and verify it using the OTP code you receive. The first verified email address to complete the procedure becomes the Tag’s management address. You can then upload the Content, choose the access mode, check the preview and publish. Activation is restricted to adults.
How much does the service cost?
The service is already included in the price of the enabled Bottle, identified by the green NFC sticker. No additional payment is required during activation.
Who can view the content? Can I set a password?
You can choose Open Access, where anyone who validly scans the Tag can view the Content, or Protected Access, with an optional Password of at least eight characters. The Password can be changed or removed using an OTP, but it does not prevent viewers from making copies or recordings with external tools.
How can I delete the content?
The request must be initiated while physically holding the Bottle: scan the Tag and select “Request deletion of the Content”. The system sends an OTP to the Creator’s verified email address. If the Bottle was given as a gift, the Recipient must ask the Creator for the code and enter it in the session opened by the scan, then confirm a second time. The Creator cannot delete remotely without the scan, and the holder cannot delete without the OTP. Deletion is permanent: the Content cannot be recovered or replaced, and the Tag will display a generic J.Rose page, with no option to upload again.
How long does it remain available? Will I receive a reminder?
The Content remains available for twelve months from Publication. The exact deletion date is shown before confirmation. On expiry, the Content is automatically and permanently deleted, without any further email notice. Download or keep a copy before that date. Any residual technical copies in backups are deleted or rendered unusable within a maximum of thirty days.
Does the NFC Tag expire after twelve months?
No. The estimated physical lifespan of the Tag may be much longer, but it is separate from the duration of the Content. After twelve months, the Tag can still be scanned, but it only opens a generic J.Rose page and does not allow new Content to be uploaded.
What should I do if the Tag does not work or has already been activated?
Write to info@jrose.it with the Tag ID and details of the problem. As the sticker is visible and can be scanned even before purchase, in cases of possible unauthorised activation J.Rose may request proof of purchase, photographs of the Bottle and Tag, or physical possession of the Bottle. Following verification, it may suspend the Content and reset the Tag for the entitled person.
